Today Elim church celebrated Children’s Sunday. The children took an active part in the morning service. They led in prayer, led the singing, took up the offering and gave individual  testimonies, sharing what God has done in their lives.

Russell was the guest speaker. This church has a strong Royal Ranger group that meet each Saturday morning on Ifira Island. Today two of the Royal Ranger boys were presented with  their Personal  Hygiene Award. Eight other boys still have  their testing to do before they also  receive their award. The Royal Ranger Commander, Pastor Paul, was a Royal Ranger on Ifira Island when he was a young boy.  He is very passionate about the  curriculum content that has been specifically written for Vanuatu. Seven boys from this church made decisions to follow Jesus at our recent Royal Ranger Camp.

Rainbow Ralph

July 7, 2009

Rainbow Ralph and the students from Faith Bible College joined us at the Ekoftau Good News Club today. We had a record of 83 pikininis and some of their mumma’s join us for the afternoon.

The students from Faith Bible College played Samari Warrior, and Peel the Banana, as well as singing some great gospel songs with the children.

Rainbow Ralph entertained the children with some slight of hand tricks, which he then showed the children how to do themselves. He then told the story of David and Goliath. The children enjoyed his presentation as he made it lots of fun. At the same time he challenged the children to ask God when they had giant needs in their life.

Visitors from New Zealand

July 1, 2009

We were blessed at Good News Club today to have a visit by 4 students from Faith Bible College in New Zealand. They ran the program with lots of games, singing and performed a great skit on the Prodigal Son. It is good for these students to gain experience in all types of ministry. The children loved our visitors  especially the song they taught them about peeling bananas.

New Baby at JBI

tday 064 - Copy Russell Naias, born 15th March 2009

Pastor Philip, the Dean of Students here at JBI, and his wife Serah, named their firstborn son Russell. This naming  was in honour of our friendship with them. Needless to say we were delighted. We understand that we now have certain cultural obligations for this little boy, these include a birthday and Christmas present every year until he is circumcised as a youth at around 12 years of age. Also  to provide the outfit of clothes for his dedication and the clothes to wear  and the razor to shave with for his wedding. He also has an obligation to do something significant for us prior to his wedding because of his name. All very interesting for us.
