Royal Ranger Pledge

July 24, 2009

A  Nambuka boy (9-12 year old group)  reciting the Royal Ranger Pledge.

The Royal Ranger Group at Saama Village  meet straight after school each Thursday. Girls have joined in the Royal Ranger group there as there is no active Missionette group in this village. Today we did a craft activity making baskets from old  CD disks that no longer work and icecream sticks all stuck together with superglue.

The devotion was about keeping ourselves clean on the inside.

We were joined on our trip by Pastor Obi who is the Senior Commander of the Royal Rangers at Calvary Temple, Luganville. He had come down to Vila for our Royal Ranger camp a couple of weeks ago. 1976 was the last time he had visited North Efate so he really enjoyed his day out with us.

SHEFA COMBINED

July 20, 2009

Over 300 people from the many AOG churches in  Vila and surrounding villages gathered together for the Mid year Shefa Combined service. This was held at We Care Ministries church at Numbatu.
A highlight of these combined services are the many choirs that perform. Russell was honoured to be the speaker at this service.  His command of “Bislama” was evident (practice makes perfect) as he preached on “Being fulup with the Spirit of God”. We saw God move powerfully in the lives of people as they brought the “Giants” in their lives out the front to be dealt with. Giants of fear, failure, lack, sickness, etc.

Rainbow Ralph

July 7, 2009

Rainbow Ralph and the students from Faith Bible College joined us at the Ekoftau Good News Club today. We had a record of 83 pikininis and some of their mumma’s join us for the afternoon.

The students from Faith Bible College played Samari Warrior, and Peel the Banana, as well as singing some great gospel songs with the children.

Rainbow Ralph entertained the children with some slight of hand tricks, which he then showed the children how to do themselves. He then told the story of David and Goliath. The children enjoyed his presentation as he made it lots of fun. At the same time he challenged the children to ask God when they had giant needs in their life.

Our volunteer cook and his assistants cooked up delicious meals, our musicians, song leaders, etc helped make camp a great experience for the boys.

Our Speaker, Pastor Colin Flitton who has had over 30 years Royal Ranger experience, challenged the boys to “Grow Natora Character”.

Pastor Colin came over from Bendigo, Australia to minister at our camp.

After lunch on Saturday there was a “Slipper Soccer”  playoff, won by Evangel Temple Outpost. In the spare time available we saw many relationships developing between boys and leaders from the various outposts. Some outposts have decided to connect regularly for joint activities.

Saturday afternoon the Royal Ranger Boys made kites with Pastor Russell, while the Royal Ranger leaders spent time learning leadership  skills with Pastor Colin. They also used this session to pray for each other.

Saturday night started with a concert, followed by a powerful sermon from Pastor Colin. The Holy Spirit’s  presence was evident in the meeting as people were touched and prayed for. We saw 15 boys make first time decisions to follow Jesus, and at the end of meeting no one moved but sat in silence soaking up the presence of God.

Everyone left camp blessed and having grown more as a Christian and as a Royal Ranger leader.

The purpose of Royal Rangers is to REACH, TEACH & KEEP BOYS FOR JESUS.

Visitors from New Zealand

July 1, 2009

We were blessed at Good News Club today to have a visit by 4 students from Faith Bible College in New Zealand. They ran the program with lots of games, singing and performed a great skit on the Prodigal Son. It is good for these students to gain experience in all types of ministry. The children loved our visitors  especially the song they taught them about peeling bananas.
