One year on……………

April 26, 2009

May 2008 saw the birth of Pango Family Worship Centre Royal Rangers, as the leaders took part in a Committment Service to dedicate themselves as Royal Ranger Leaders.

Today 11 months on these same Royal Rangers were presented with the Shefa Province Field Day Shield. They keep this shield on display in their church until next Field Day, April 2010. There were some very proud leaders and boys today, and some proud parents as well.

These Royal Rangers are from Saama Village, a village on the North coast of our island Efate, approximately 45 km and over one hour away by truck. The leader of this group is Joseph.

The boys raised the money for their Field Day Patches by cutting and selling bundles of firewood in the village. They came by truck 3 hours early and sold fruit, (Naus, Pamplamus  and oranges) at the Market House to fund the cost of their travel to Vila.

Some of these young boys had never been to the city before, so it was a very exciting day out for them.

And the winner is …….Pango Royal Rangers

field day 139

Over 80 Royal Ranger boys and their leaders gathered together at We Care Church, Numbatu, Vila for the Shefa Province Field Day.

The winners of the Shefa Province Shield  were from Pango Family Worship Centre. Pango is a large village just outside the capital of Port Vila. This outposts strength was in the sprint events as they had a good representation across all age groups. The Nambuka boys were very strong runners.

Our speaker for the day was Missionary  Lori Ellison. Lori and her mother Joy started the first Royal Ranger group at Luganville over 30 years ago.

The following photos represent some of the events that were run today.

The service celebrated the resurrection of “Master blong yumi, Jisas”

“Jisas conquered death. Satan yu lus, Jisas i win.”

More than 40 Children from Good News Club Ekoftau had their first ever sleep over camp at the church last weekend. This was a special time for these children who live in the squatters settlement and have very little.

The program was centred around Easter.   The Easter story was told in 3 sections, Palm Sunday story  with paper chains containing Easter Words for the craft. One of the mumma’ came along to help Ma and Robyn with the craft for which they were thankful, the church was a mess by the time the craft sessions were over.

The Crucifixion story, the children made cardboard crosses, and decorated them.

For  the Resurrection  story, the children made angels with turkey feather wings.

Time was spent practicing skits for the Palm Sunday service  the next day. There was a skit, re-enacting the journey of Jesus to Jerusalem. Sister Ma and her daughter Susanna excel in this area.

There was Dance, and items in song. Free time in the afternoon gave the children a chance to play volley outside.
