I can play too!
October 31, 2008Sunday School Class at Ekoftau
October 24, 2008Sunday afternoon an International Service is held at Ekoftau Family Worship Centre. The congregation are mostly Fijian. (The morning service is a Bislama service for the local community.) Robyn runs the afternoon Sunday school, with teacher assistant Vergina a year 10 student. Some of the boys that have started coming along are from the Good News Club.
Cooking Lessons
October 20, 2008After sampling Robyn’s cakes and biscuits all year the students thought it was about time they learnt to bake. “So they could teach their wives when they find them” was the comment. They students had a great night, full of laughter and “tasting” of course. They bragged about their skills to the other students over lunch the next day.
The result was 84 biscuits all made from the same basic recipe.
Good News Club
October 17, 2008The Good News Club at Ekoftau continues to be a strong group of children. Most weeks the numbers range between 25 and 44 children. For the last few weeks Robyn has been running this group single handed. She now has a Ni-Vanuatu lady who is a Sunday School teacher at the church, and a teenage girl willing to work along side her and help every Tuesday afternoon starting next week.
Robyn enjoys her walk into the village just as much as the Good News Club, as she is able to connect with the few village children who are walking home from school. She generally plays mental maths games as they walk along. By using a variety of Vanuatu stories for adding and subtraction the children are generally in peels of laughter (common with the ni-vanuatu people). Some of these children have started to come along to the Good News Club as well.
JBI Lecture
October 15, 2008Russell was privileged to share his passion for Royal Rangers with the 2nd year students at JBI. His dream for Royal Rangers in Vanuatu is to see the boys of this country standing up strong for God.
Of the 11 students in the class, only 2 had some idea that Royal Rangers is an evangelism tool, for reaching young boys with the gospel and in turn to grow Godly men. These students have one more year of study before they go out into the islands as Pastors.
Lori who is one of the staff here at JBI, helped start the first Royal Ranger Group with her mother, at Luganville on the island of Santo in 1974. The original group catered for both boys and girls.
